It is not a survey: the ridges show where the range lies rather than where individual mountains stand, and the dotted route is a plausible path rather than a recorded road. The two villages, the neighbouring towns and the border are in their real places. The distance of about thirty-five kilometres is measured from the coordinates; the two or three days on foot is an inference, and the four hundred years is family tradition.
